Junior Web Developer

Description:

Tate’s Digital team is offering an exciting opportunity for a talented developer at an early stage of their career. You will be fluent in the core client-side technologies of web development, keen to acquire new skills across the stack and ready for the challenge of delivering great experiences to a diverse global audience.

Each year, millions enjoy Tate’s digital products and content, and our audiences have high expectations. Joining our in-house team of developers, you will help to improve the experience of Tate’s online visitors, deliver digital experiences in our galleries, grow sales through our ecommerce platform, and reinforce Tate’s standing as a leading digital presence within the cultural sector. We don’t require you to be an expert in continuous integration, but our preferred candidate will display continuous curiosity.

With the support of a multi-disciplinary Product and Development team, you will ensure our digital products are effective, reliable, accessible and pleasing to use. The team takes a collaborative approach to projects, with lively discussion and fresh thinking very much at the heart of how we do things.

The last year has underlined the critical importance of Tate’s website: a constant point of access to the museum’s collection and programme, even when our galleries had to close their doors. We have an ambitious roadmap ahead for delivering an enhanced user experience, better tools for site editors and more tailored content to our audiences, while acting to reduce the climate impact of Tate’s digital presence.

Prior art knowledge is not a requirement. We welcome applications from those who have taken unconventional career routes into tech. The Digital team is based at Tate Britain and a flexible balance of on-site and remote working is available.
