Laboratory Technician

Element Environmental Laboratory has an opportunity for a Laboratory Technician in our laboratory assisting in the preparation of soil / water samples.

Element Environmental Laboratory Deeside is the largest analytical chemistry laboratory within the Element Group and the market leading UK laboratory undertaking the testing of soils, waters, wastes, oils, NAPLs, ambient air, soil vapours and gases from all over the world. The laboratory undertakes high volume routine analysis as well as offering bespoke method development, technical support and hydrocarbon forensic interpretations to enhance the support we can deliver. Responsibilities
 

• Working in the laboratory assisting in the preparation of soil/water samples
• Undertaking a variety of extractions in preparation for analysis
• Undertaking basic analysis following standard procedures
• Maintaining accurate records, calibrating equipment and general housekeeping
• Reporting of results using LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System)
• Ad hoc duties as required
   

Skills / Qualifications
 

• A science background and education to A level is preferable but not essential
• The right aptitude and/or previous relevant experience will also be taken into account
• Highly motivated and organised individual
• Good attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and adhere to deadlines
• A team player with a positive attitude
• Full training will be provided – no experience necessary
