Description:
The Environment Agency is seeking a Technical Lead for the Land Access Database as part of the Natural Capital and Ecosystem Assessment (NCEA) Programme. This programme is a flagship initiative that informs environmental decision-making in England by building a robust evidence base on ecosystems and natural capital.
The role involves technical oversight of landowner access for monitoring networks, maintaining landowner datasets in compliance with legal and organisational requirements, and ensuring alignment with programme goals. The position requires strong collaboration with operational specialists and stakeholders, managing data quality, and delivering solutions to challenges that arise in programme delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide expert technical leadership for the Land Access Database and associated monitoring networks
Manage and maintain landowner datasets, ensuring data quality and legal compliance
Work independently and collaboratively to resolve access or data challenges
Support programme delivery in line with NCEA objectives
Offer training, guidance, and optimisation of data management processes
Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Adapt to evolving priorities and deliver effective solutions
Experience / Skills Required:
Experience working with geospatial data and GIS tools
Strong data management skills and ability to maintain high-quality datasets
Proven experience interacting with internal and external stakeholders
Ability to provide technical guidance and training
Collaborative and adaptable, able to troubleshoot and problem-solve
Proactive, energetic, and tenacious approach to delivery
