Language Teacher

Description:

The Armenian Institute is seeking a dedicated Western Armenian Language Teacher to lead live, online classes for adult learners across various proficiency levels. This role offers a flexible digital teaching environment focused on language preservation and cultural connection.

The successful candidate will plan and teach 90-minute weekly lessons for three 10-week terms (Autumn, Winter, Spring) held in the early evening (GMT). Lessons should be interactive, engaging, and tailored to adult learners, promoting not only linguistic skills but also cultural appreciation.

Key responsibilities include:

• Planning and teaching engaging online lessons for Western Armenian learners

• Creating interactive digital materials and resources to enhance language acquisition

• Integrating Armenian history, literature, religion, and culture into lessons using multimedia tools

• Applying project-based and blended learning approaches to cater to different learning styles

• Assessing student progress with regular feedback

• Collaborating with peers to align curriculum and cultural programming

• Encouraging student involvement in contests, performances, and cultural events

• Building a respectful, inclusive, and enthusiastic virtual classroom

Required Qualifications:

• Native fluency in Western Armenian (spoken and written)

• Teaching experience, preferably online or in language instruction

• Excellent communication, organization, and digital teaching skills

• Comfort with platforms like Zoom, Google Classroom, and other virtual learning tools

Preferred Qualifications:

• Degree in Education, Armenian Studies, Linguistics, or a related field

• Experience with online curriculum development and resource creation

• Deep knowledge of Armenian culture, literature, and traditions

• A strong passion for revitalizing and preserving the Western Armenian language
