Description:
We’re looking for a Lead MySQL Platform Engineer to define and drive database architecture, champion best practice, and ensure world-class performance and reliability.
Remote-first across the UK, with optional visits to our Newcastle office.
What You’ll Do
- Lead architecture, design, and evolution of our MySQL platform across global environments.
- Engineer robust replication strategies (GTID-based, multi-region, failover) and drive HA improvements.
- Optimise performance across indexing, schema design, slow-query analysis, and workload profiling.
- Guide and implement major lifecycle events—migrations, version upgrades, topology redesigns.
- Build automation and tooling to reduce operational load and embed resilience into the stack.
- Provide deep technical expertise to engineering teams and mentor peers on database best practice.
What You Bring
- Expert-level MySQL knowledge: performance tuning, distributed replication, recovery, and storage internals.
- Strong experience with observability and performance tooling (Percona, PMM, Performance Schema, Grafana).
- Proficiency with Linux systems, networking concepts, and automation scripting.
- Experience designing and supporting high-scale, mission-critical databases in production.
- Clear communication and the ability to influence architecture across teams.
Nice-to-Have
- Experience with PostgreSQL, Druid, or other NoSQL stores.
- Experience building DBA/DBRE automation and infra-as-code (Python, Bash, Terraform, Ansible).
- Familiarity with microservices, containers, and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
Why Partnerize?
- Architect systems at the core of a global SaaS platform.
- Shape foundational decisions as we scale into the next era of growth.
- Work alongside high-calibre engineers in a remote-first, collaborative culture.
- Own the MySQL platform end-to-end—with the autonomy to modernise and innovate.
