Description:
Medivet Leckhampton, a well-established small-animal practice in Cheltenham Spa, UK, is seeking a Lead Veterinary Surgeon to provide clinical leadership and exceptional care. The practice has recently expanded to a larger facility with advanced diagnostic equipment, imaging suite, dental theatre, and spacious wards. The veterinary team consists of five surgeons with specializations in surgery, cardiology, and ophthalmology, supported by experienced nurses and reception staff.
The Lead Veterinary Surgeon will be accountable for the clinical leadership of the team, ensuring exceptional patient and client care while maintaining regulatory, operational, and practice standards. This role also collaborates with the Practice Manager to maximize commercial performance. The position is full-time (40 hours per week) with shared weekends.
Responsibilities:
Deliver exceptional clinical care to patients during consultations and procedures
Provide clear and professional communication with clients regarding patient care
Prepare accurate treatment and care plans with cost estimates
Mentor, engage, and develop veterinary and nursing staff
Support clinical best practices across the practice and wider Medivet community
Uphold high standards of regulatory, operational, and practice compliance
Requirements / Skills:
RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon
Experienced in patient and client care
Strong teamwork and clinical leadership skills
Ability to implement a progressive clinical culture
Experience supporting nurse consults and schedule 3 procedures
Proficient in coaching and influencing colleagues to achieve excellence
