Description:

Capita, in collaboration with the Royal Navy under the Selborne modernisation programme, is seeking a Learning and Development Lead – Curriculum Specialist to support the transformation of Royal Navy training. This exciting role is critical in shaping the future of naval education, with a strong focus on inclusive, flexible, and technology-enhanced learning for diverse learners, including those with Specific Learning Differences and Neurodiverse needs.

Based primarily at BRNC Dartmouth, this role involves travel to multiple naval sites across the South Coast (with overnight stays averaging twice a month). Hybrid working is offered with a balance of office and home working. The contract is fixed-term until March 2027. Due to the nature of the role, UK Security Clearance (SC level) eligibility is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Motivate, inspire, and support educators by promoting high-quality learning environments.

  • Advocate for innovative teaching practices, integrating digital technologies to enhance learner experience.

  • Collaborate with training delivery teams to design inclusive lesson plans tailored to learner pace, needs, and active learning approaches.

  • Provide curriculum and training design support for inclusive education, ensuring accessibility for learners with neurodiverse needs.

  • Lead quality improvement initiatives focused on teaching, learning, and assessment standards.

  • Champion best practices with stakeholders to support differentiated and flexible learning strategies.

Candidate Profile:

  • Strong background in Further or Higher Education with leadership exposure.

  • Teaching qualification at Level 5 or above (essential).

  • Excellent digital literacy and IT skills.

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive working relationships.

  • Track record of influencing stakeholders and implementing impactful change in teaching and learning practices.

About Selborne Programme:
Selborne is a 12-year, £1 billion transformation programme awarded in 2020 to modernise Royal Navy training. Led by Capita, in partnership with Raytheon UK, Fujitsu, University of Lincoln, and several other UK-based suppliers, Team Fisher is revolutionising Royal Navy training with synthetic simulation systems, digital tools, and data analytics.
