SWRAC is seeking a full-time Learning Support Assistant/Mentor (Maternity Cover) to join their friendly team at the Southport Centre. The role involves supporting learners with Learning Difficulties and Disabilities (LDD) and/or Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across classroom, community, and work placement settings.
Support learners with LDD/SEND in classroom settings and on an individual basis.
Act as a scribe, reader, or exam invigilator as required.
Support students during breaks, outings, community, and recreational activities.
Contribute to Individual Learning Plans (ILPs), monitor progress, and assist with travel training.
Accompany learners on work experience placements (on and off site).
Encourage independence and self-help skills wherever possible.
Maintain records associated with the support role.
Level 2 Maths and English (or equivalent).
Level 2/3 Qualification in learning support (desirable).
Understanding of working with young adults with SEND.
Awareness of disabilities and ability to relate well to children and vulnerable young adults.
Experience as an ELSA or in supporting teaching and learning in schools (desirable).
Strong teamwork skills and understanding of classroom roles and responsibilities.
