Simmons & Hanbury has been exclusively retained to recruit a Corporate/Commercial Counsel for a boutique financial services organization based in the City of London. This is a high-impact hybrid role reporting directly to the General Counsel, involving legal advisory, strategic insight, and commercial analysis across diverse business areas.

The position is ideal for a qualified solicitor with 1–3 years PQE, particularly those trained in a city law firm with a foundation in corporate and commercial law. You will be expected to work on complex, often novel, projects and provide legal counsel across a broad spectrum of operational and strategic business activities, with an emphasis on delivering commercially sound legal guidance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide legal support across the business in areas such as corporate governance, commercial contracts, regulatory compliance, and employment law

• Support the General Counsel in advising on legal and strategic initiatives, risk mitigation, and business development activities

• Advise on intellectual property and regulatory issues

• Participate in the negotiation and review of commercial contracts and transactions

• Engage with in-house legal and commercial projects that support the company’s growth and operational integrity

Required Experience & Qualifications:

• 1–3 years of PQE, ideally with city law firm training

• Admitted to practice law in England & Wales or another common law jurisdiction

• Possess the legal right to live and work in the UK

• Experience in financial services is advantageous, though not essential

• In-house legal experience is a plus, particularly within a smaller or newer financial institution

• Strong strategic thinking, commercial acumen, and the ability to quickly adapt to new or unfamiliar subject matter
