Description:
Plaid is seeking a European Counsel to join its Privacy, Policy, Legal and Compliance (PPLC) team. The role involves providing business-focused legal guidance across the company to support product innovation, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and mitigate legal risks. The Counsel will be part of a fast-paced fintech environment working with teams across Product, Commercial, and Legal functions.
Key Responsibilities:
Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts including customer agreements, partnerships, and service-level agreements (SLAs)
Ensure compliance with data protection practices and fintech regulations
Support legal risk management, identifying and mitigating potential legal and compliance issues
Stay updated on legal and regulatory changes across financial services, data protection, and open banking
Collaborate with internal teams to navigate legal and compliance challenges in new product development
Manage internal legal processes efficiently
Qualifications:
Qualified solicitor in England and Wales
Minimum 4 years of relevant post-qualification experience at a top international law firm or in-house legal department
Preferably with experience in financial services or a fast-growing startup
Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
Strong stakeholder management and teamwork abilities
Knowledge of privacy, data security, and intellectual property law is a plus
Passion for Plaid’s mission in fintech
