Description:

Dudley Council is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Licensing Clerk to join its Licensing Services team. This role plays a vital part in ensuring the borough delivers a high-quality licensing service that upholds public safety and regulatory compliance.

The Licensing Clerk will be responsible for processing taxi and private hire applications, coordinating DBS checks, maintaining accurate records, and providing guidance to applicants and licence holders. Acting as a frontline point of contact, the role requires excellent administrative precision and strong customer service skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process and manage licensing applications, particularly for taxi and private hire licences.

  • Coordinate essential checks, including DBS clearances, to ensure compliance.

  • Maintain accurate digital and physical records to support service delivery.

  • Provide clear advice and guidance to applicants, licence holders, and stakeholders.

  • Support the Licensing Services team in upholding public safety and compliance with regulations.

Requirements:

  • Strong administrative and organizational skills.

  • Excellent customer service ability and confidence in dealing with sensitive information.

  • Good IT literacy, including use of databases and Microsoft Office.

  • Understanding of safeguarding principles and willingness to undertake training.

  • Experience in regulatory or public service environments is desirable.
