Paul Rhodes Bakery, a renowned name in London’s artisanal baking industry, is seeking an Assistant Transport & Logistics Manager to join their growing team at their Greenwich Head Office. Founded in 2003 by Michelin-starred chef Paul Rhodes, the bakery has earned a reputation for producing high-quality handcrafted sourdoughs, cakes, and pastries for London’s top restaurants, hotels, cafés, and retail customers.
This role is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional in logistics or operations who wants to work with a respected brand that values craftsmanship, quality, and teamwork. The successful candidate will support the Transport Manager in overseeing daily logistics operations, ensuring the smooth and efficient movement of goods across the bakery’s wholesale and retail network.
Supervise nightly dispatch operations to guarantee timely, accurate, and efficient deliveries to clients and partners.
Recruit, train, and monitor driver performance while promoting a safe and productive work environment.
Plan, schedule, and optimize delivery routes to improve operational efficiency and minimize costs.
Manage fleet maintenance, ensuring all vehicles meet roadworthiness and legal compliance standards.
Oversee driver schedules, payroll accuracy, and adherence to transport regulations.
Maintain transport systems, documentation, and audit-ready compliance records.
Collaborate with the Transport Manager on HR matters, health & safety policies, and performance improvement.
Serve as a key contact for delivery queries, ensuring a high standard of customer communication and satisfaction.
Analyze transport performance metrics to identify cost-saving opportunities and operational improvements.
At least 3 years of management experience in logistics, warehouse, or factory operations.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide teams effectively.
Proven experience managing high-volume operations with accuracy under pressure.
Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills across all business levels.
Analytical mindset with a problem-solving approach focused on continuous improvement.
Experience handling incident/accident management and implementing corrective measures.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and familiarity with logistics or warehouse management systems.
