Maintenance Engineer

Description:

Yolk Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Day Maintenance Engineer with an electrical bias to join a long-established, highly automated manufacturing site in Avonmouth. This role offers a stable 4-on-4-off day shift pattern (42 hours/week) with a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package. The position is ideal for a time-served maintenance engineer or a recently completed apprenticeship engineer who enjoys problem-solving, hands-on work, and contributing to a close-knit team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs across plant and utility systems.

• Attend breakdowns and restore production quickly and safely.

• Carry out electrical work in compliance with Electricity at Work Regulations.

• Support steam and pressure systems, including boiler maintenance (BOAS qualification preferred).

• Collaborate with the Engineering Manager on long-term repair planning and reliability improvements.

• Isolate equipment and issue permits to work to contractors and colleagues.

• Record work completed in the CMMS system and communicate spare part requirements.

• Maintain a safe working environment and actively support site H&S standards.

• Use initiative to fix minor issues, tidy work areas, and support other departments.

Requirements:

• Electrically biased with 17th/18th Edition knowledge and strong fault-finding skills.

• Confident with motors, drives, conveyors, and bucket elevators.

• Familiarity with steam and pressure systems (BOAS or equivalent beneficial).

• PLC fault-finding knowledge (no programming required).

• Positive, hands-on approach; able to work independently and in a team.

• Awareness of Health & Safety and COSHH regulations.

• Flexibility to provide occasional night shift cover.
