Management Accountant

 

Description:

Based at our Pagoda House site in Harrogate (with the option for hybrid working), we currently have a small Central Services Finance team, led by the Group Financial Controller. You will provide financial support to the Central Services functions, enabling decision support and performance measurement. This will involve managing the accounting ledgers for the Central Services functions and being responsible for the preparation of monthly management accounts, balance sheets and profit and loss reconciliations. It is also essential that you have experience of preparing management accounts, journals, budgeting, forecasting and preparing fixed asset transactions.

Specific duties will include:

  • Reviewing financial performance on a monthly basis with cost centre managers, ensuring costs are aligned with expectations and providing maximum value to the organisation.
  • Maintenance of the Fixed Asset Register and associated Capital expenditure processes.
  • Acting as the main point of contact for the auditors during interim and year-end audits, resolving queries and coordinating on behalf of Central Finance.
  • Contributing to review of finance policies and procedures, ensuring they are fit-for-purpose, legally compliant, regularly reviewed and embedded within the organisation.
  • Identifying key areas of improvement and efficiency, implementing recommendations to add value.
  • Acting as a superuser for IFS, our ERP system.
  • Managing, mentoring and supporting the Finance Assistant.

You will need to:

  • Be a qualified accountant – ACA/ACCA/CIMA.
  • Be a confident user of Microsoft Office and in particular Microsoft Excel and accounts packages.
  • Hold a high level of attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate the ability to build strong working relationships with key stakeholders at varying levels of seniority.
  • Able to prioritise, work with fixed deadlines and manage peaks of workload.
  • Have experience of coaching or managing direct reports.
