We are looking for people who can join our growing team of Associate Lecturers in the School of Engineering and Innovation

This is a flexible role working from home that can be combined with other work and childcare as part of a portfolio career. There may also be the opportunity over time to increase your workload with the Open University into a more substantive role. The majority of teaching will be undertaken remotely: marking and giving feedback on assignments, facilitating online tutorials/1 to 1 teaching sessions with students online or over the telephone. Once we return to normal working conditions there will be face to face tutorials for which travel will be required within the UK. Tutorials are typically scheduled in evenings and weekends with some flexibility to work around your other commitments.

Module description

Introducing materials processing from the perspective of a design engineer, this module explores how to make components. The emphasis is on the interactions between manufacturing, materials and design rather than studying each independently. The main routes to manufacture of components – casting, forming, cutting and joining – are set in a business context that supports effective decision making, and the study materials include a continually evolving databank of manufacturing processes
