Description:


The Engineer, Mechanical (Machines) is responsible for providing specialist machines expertise to the Maintenance & Operations teams on the plant. The role has a particular focus on the four large multistage centrifugal compressors and associated steam turbines that are at the heart of the Olefins 6 process, together with several reciprocating compressors and 200+ pumps and fans.

  • Provide technical support on all aspects of rotating equipment. This includes providing training and support to the operations and machines maintenance technicians.
  • Lead development of the rotating equipment asset life and improvement programme, ensuring continued exceptional reliability from the main machines and other rotating equipment.
  • Carry out RCA investigations to improve overall asset integrity and reliability.
  • Provide close support in the specification and delivery of the machines aspects of 6-yearly major Turnarounds.
  • Actively participate in internal and external knowledge networks to ensure best practices and developments from elsewhere are considered and implemented.

MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor and/or Master’s Degree or Equivalent (ideally MEng) in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline
  • Excellent Conceptual, Communication and Analytical Skills
  • Fluency (both written and Oral) in English
  • Excellent presentation and network skills
  • Proficiency in IT systems such as Office, ability to use business specific systems such as SAP, reporting, etc is required
  • Candidates with previous experience in the Petrochemical or Similar Industry, with large rotating equipment, especially centrifugal compressors and steam turbines, as well as pumps and reciprocating compressors, are encouraged to apply

  • Candidates without specific rotating equipment experience are also encouraged to apply and will be supported to develop these skills within the role, so rotating equipment interest and aptitude is the key foundation for the successful applicant.

  • Experience in leading RCA investigations and RCM studies would be an advantage. Management of Change is also a key part of the role.
