Description:
MAG (Mines Advisory Group), an international humanitarian organization headquartered in Manchester, UK, seeks a proactive and experienced Media Coordinator to lead its media engagement strategy and support its global communication initiatives. MAG works in over 30 countries to clear landmines and unexploded ordnance and reduce the threat of armed violence, and was a co-recipient of the 1997 Nobel Peace Prize.
In this role, you will serve as a media liaison, ensuring high-value media coverage for MAG’s humanitarian efforts. You will work closely with communications and global program teams to craft compelling media narratives, pitch stories, and manage media visits. You'll also be responsible for producing written and digital content for MAG’s website and social channels, as well as managing and expanding their global network of media contacts.
Key Responsibilities:
Drive proactive media relations and external communications for MAG
Develop and implement media strategies in collaboration with the communications team
Manage media visits, pitch story ideas, and grow MAG’s media network
Produce engaging written and digital content for the website and social media
Use industry-standard editing and postproduction tools for content creation
Analyse digital audience metrics and support strategic content planning
Ensure accurate, accessible communication of complex information
Represent MAG’s vision and values in all media outputs
Candidate Profile:
Background in journalism (broadcast, newspaper, or magazine)
Strong communication and editorial skills
Experience in media outreach and story development
Comfortable working independently with strong problem-solving skills
Proficient in using media editing tools and audience analysis software
Skilled in building relationships with journalists and media professionals
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
