Description:
Lead AISI’s finance function, transforming finance operations into streamlined, efficient processes. Provide expert financial advice to senior leaders and support business planning decisions. Build strong relationships with DSIT central finance teams and contribute to the operational and strategic needs of the AI Security Institute.
Lead and manage AISI’s finance team, including tracking, reconciling, and processing payments.
Maintain and improve financial data flows between AISI systems, Oracle, forecasting tools, shared service providers, and other trackers.
Ensure purchase-to-pay processes are efficient, traceable, and correctly integrated into systems.
Improve expenditure recording and reconciliation to ensure accurate month-end data.
Define and implement consistent data standards (cost centres, programme codes, contract dates, identifiers).
Develop actionable reporting tools for senior leaders with accurate in-year information and forecasts.
Lead meetings to support business-critical decisions, reprioritise spend, and allocate future budgets.
Identify automation opportunities to streamline recurring finance processes.
Document workflows and provide training to ensure effective use of finance systems.
Collaborate with central DSIT finance and digital teams on reporting standards and controls.
Fully qualified CCAB or CIMA accountancy qualification (or equivalent).
Strong understanding of core finance processes: forecasting, budgeting, accruals, journals, purchase orders, and spend approvals.
Hands-on experience with Oracle or similar financial systems.
Proven experience improving or managing financial systems and data environments.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Experience managing a small finance team.
Ability to bridge finance, operational, and technical teams.
Hands-on experience with Microsoft Power Apps, Power Automate, or other workflow/financial automation tools.
Experience mapping end-to-end processes and simplifying complex systems.
Knowledge of government finance frameworks (e.g., Consolidated Budgeting Guidance, Managing Public Money).
