Description:

Allianz Commercial, a leading global insurance and financial services provider, is seeking a talented and analytical Motor Risk Selection Analyst to join its newly created Motor Risk Selection Team within the Retail Portfolio Pricing and Underwriting division.

This role combines analytical, underwriting, and pricing expertise to enhance the accuracy and profitability of retail motor and road rescue products under the Allianz brands. You will play a key part in shaping risk selection strategies and ensuring continuous improvement through data-driven insights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and optimise underwriting rules and footprint for retail motor and road rescue products.

  • Analyse opportunities to expand or contract risk appetite, ensuring sound commercial decisions.

  • Monitor key risk indicators (KRIs) and quotability performance across products.

  • Develop and present proposals to modify underwriting guidelines.

  • Implement rule changes within Radar Live and ensure consistent application across systems.

  • Identify and adjust areas where claims cost prediction models show variance or reduced accuracy.

  • Conduct actual vs. expected claims monitoring, using statistical insights to refine model performance.

  • Lead deep-dive analyses into specific product segments, identifying opportunities to optimise pricing and risk control.

  • Support the development and improvement of underwriting capabilities on retail motor products.


Required Skills & Attributes

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven recommendations.

  • Knowledge of underwriting, pricing, or risk assessment frameworks.

  • A forward-thinking, innovative mindset with a passion for improving systems and processes.

  • Ability to interpret statistical outputs and communicate insights effectively to business teams.

  • Commercial awareness and understanding of competitive market dynamics.

  • Proficiency in data analytics tools and statistical methods.


Preferred Expertise

  • Experience with underwriting guides, risk models, or actuarial pricing structures.

  • Familiarity with Radar Live or similar pricing/underwriting systems.

  • Background in motor insurance, portfolio pricing, or risk management.

  • Actuarial study progress or interest in pursuing professional actuarial qualifications.
