Description:
Working within our Motor Trade Specialist Unit, this key role is responsible for leading the New Business team, managing broker relationships, developing compelling propositions, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement, inclusion, and customer focus. You will work across our broker market, working closely with underwriting, marketing, and strategic teams to identify new opportunities, optimise processes, and build a high-performing team that delivers growth, excellent service, and sustainable results.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and motivate the New Business team to achieve financial targets, cultivating a positive, diverse, and collaborative team culture.
- Manage and grow the existing broker portfolio, ensuring delivery of revenue and profit targets, and building strong relationships with key brokers and partners.
- Collaborate with Underwriting and Operations managers to optimise team performance, implement process improvements, and coach underwriters to exceed standards.
- Lead the development and presentation of strategic pitches and high-profile deals, supporting growth initiatives and new market opportunities.
- Organise and lead market events and campaigns, aligning messaging with marketing and strategic teams to identify and capitalise on new broker and customer opportunities.
- Foster a customer-centric culture by implementing innovative methods, frameworks, and controls to deliver excellent customer and broker outcomes while managing risk.
- Oversee employee performance management, training, and succession planning to ensure a motivated, capable, and high-performing team.
- Drive continuous improvement through process re-engineering, operational efficiencies, and service excellence initiatives, supporting the business’s strategic growth.
Work Arrangements
At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You'll work at least two days a week (40%) away from home, moving to three days a week (60%) in the future. Away from home means attending the office, visiting clients or attending industry events.
Your Skills & Experience
- Proven experience leading and motivating teams in a commercial insurance or financial services environment.
- Strong relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels.
- Demonstrable success in delivering growth targets, developing propositions, and managing broker or partner portfolios.
- Excellent strategic thinking and planning skills, with a focus on continuous improvement and customer outcomes.
- Deep understanding of the broker market, underwriting, and risk management principles.
- Ability to lead change, drive process improvements, and embed a customer and broker-centric culture.
- Strong commercial acumen, with experience managing budgets, forecasts, and profitability.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills, with a passion for building strong internal and external relationships
