Description:
Surrey Arts, part of Surrey County Council and the county’s leading provider of youth music services, is hiring a Peripatetic Music Technology Teacher for a permanent, salaried role. This exciting position involves delivering high-quality music technology instruction to children and young people in schools and community settings across Surrey.
You will play a key role in bringing music education to life through creative and technology-driven approaches, inspiring students to express themselves musically. The position may include individual, small group, and potentially whole-class teaching, delivered during school hours, after school, or on weekends.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging one-to-one and small group lessons in music technology across various schools and venues.
Potential to increase working hours based on demand, with a minimum commitment of 15 hours/week for 33 weeks/year.
Provide instruction that encourages student creativity, independence, and technical proficiency.
Ideally teach a second instrument (e.g., guitar, piano, or drums) — although music technology only will be considered for the right candidate.
Travel across Surrey as needed to fulfil teaching assignments.
Adapt teaching styles and genres to match student needs and interests.
Contribute to wider Surrey Arts music programs and public events.
Candidate Requirements:
Recognised music degree/diploma or equivalent professional experience.
Ability to use a range of music technology tools and platforms in teaching.
Confident in preparing students for music examinations (where applicable).
Excellent classroom and one-on-one teaching skills, adaptable to varied student abilities and backgrounds.
ICT literate with strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset.
Committed to safeguarding, inclusion, and student welfare.
Willingness and ability to travel across Surrey.
