Description:
The Rainbow Mother and Baby Unit at Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust is a 6-bedded specialist commissioned service dedicated to providing assessment, care, and treatment for women experiencing acute mental health illness during the third trimester of pregnancy and up to 12 months postpartum. This role is a unique opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic Nursery Nurse to support mothers, their babies, and wider families during a critical and life-changing period.
The role requires excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary professionals, ensuring positive outcomes for both mothers and infants. Perinatal work is a deeply rewarding field, focusing on both the individual and the extended family during what can be both an exciting and challenging time.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the Nurse in Charge in day-to-day ward operations, providing both practical and emotional support to mothers experiencing acute mental illness and distress.
Monitor the welfare, safety, and development of babies on the unit.
Run therapeutic and educational parent-infant groups, promoting bonding and developmental progress.
Contribute to developing individualized care plans for babies, ensuring their health, growth, and wellbeing.
Work closely with a passionate, committed team to deliver the highest standard of care for mothers, infants, and families.
