The Optical Systems Engineer is required to define, execute and lead on the required optical design activities and analysis for the development of optical payload architectures.

How Will You Contribute To The Team…
- Interpret customer requirements, carry out analyses and trade-offs to define optical system/subsystems architectures and designs, and generate requirements specifications.
- Perform and be responsible for specific optical systems engineering activities within an optical instrument to support the successful design and development of instrument and instrument subsystems, and delivery against our commitments to the customer.
- Coordinate the engineering, design and validation activities for elements of the instrument and/or instrument subsystems. Support the design, development and AIV plans for systems/subsystems. Approve design solutions and documentation.
- Undertake and review optical design and performance analysis as required to support and complete the required activities. Support test campaigns to ensure validation and calibration. Support the development of hardware/software.
- Interface directly with the Customer team, within the framework of project protocols and communication channels, to demonstrate technical competence and credibility in the tasks we are performing.
About You...
- A good understanding of optical design, analyses methods and optical tolerances, ideally space-based sensor systems
- A good understanding of various related disciplines - optical, detection, mechanical, thermal, electrical functional.
- Knowledge of fabrication and testing techniques for optical components and systems
- An appreciation of the key technologies and architectures within imaging optical systems
- Experience in hardware development
