Description:
Essex County Council is seeking a Part Time Finance Administrator to join its Finance team in Chelmsford. This is a permanent, part-time opportunity offering 3 full days a week (Monday–Wednesday), with hybrid working arrangements and an expectation to attend the office once a week.
The role sits within the Purchase to Pay (P2P) and Income teams, where you will provide comprehensive transactional and administrative support. This is a developmental role, giving you the opportunity to gain broad knowledge across financial services and systems, while contributing to process improvements and excellent customer service delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform accurate data entry of payments and income in line with procedures, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and timeliness.
Provide administrative support to the Finance team, including managing post, handling basic queries via email/phone, and supporting team deadlines.
Contribute to producing reports for P2P, Income, and external stakeholders to support organisational performance.
Deliver services within agreed service levels and proactively flag issues or risks for early resolution.
Support the implementation of process changes and service improvements.
Work flexibly across multi-skilled operational teams to ensure effective service delivery.
Required Skills & Experience:
Strong Microsoft Office knowledge (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) is essential.
Experience using Oracle or similar finance systems is desirable.
Previous experience in an office or finance administration environment is preferred.
Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with different stakeholders.
Educated to RQF Level 1 or equivalent experience.
Flexible team player with a willingness to learn and develop in a financial environment.
