Planning Manager

 

Description:

To oversee and expand our Planning function in the North, we are looking for a Planning Manager to join us. Working alongside the Project Controls Director, you'll prepare and develop schedules for a variety of large multi discipline schemes or smaller projects, where the ability to prioritise, competing demands will be key.
Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Preparing and developing schedules in conjunction with Project Managers, including schedule updates and reports
  • Highlighting trends delays and issues within the programme and propose mitigation measures
  • Ensuring programme related issues are addressed
  • Evaluating and reporting schedule progress and trends
  • Assisting management, project managers and colleagues to understand and buy into the planning and scheduling function
  • Supporting business development and progression of PMO guidance & planning process
  • Recognising and understanding competing business requirements within the plans and making recommendations for the overall good of the business
  • Mentoring staff to assist in their professional development
  • Assisting the Project Controls team with evaluating schedule impacts arising from change and risk mitigatio

On top of that, you’ll have:

  • A degree (or equivalent) in engineering or in a related discipline or demonstrable equivalent experience
  • Significant planning and scheduling experience in large multi discipline civil engineering projects
  • An in-depth working knowledge and hands on experience with Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project
  • Commercial awareness with a good knowledge of contracts and Earned Value analysis
  • The ability to develop programmes independently with skilled capabilities in progressing, trending, forecasting and analytical reporting
  • Self-motivation with the ability to make judgements based on practice and previous experience
