About the role:

Confused.com has an exciting opportunity to join our Internal Delivery Platform Team (IDP) as a Platform Engineering Team Lead. Our talented Team Leads are key to enabling our engineers to quickly build and run safe, secure and cost effective systems in our public cloud (Microsoft Azure). This engineering role will support improvement in our product development flow across the whole of Confused.com. Whether you are an experienced engineer looking to progress further into the management route, or already a Team Lead looking for the next step in your career, this could be the role for you!

What you'll be doing:

The IDP focuses on Engineering Experience - enabling engineers to quickly and effectively build solutions whilst helping to keep everything safe, secure and cost effective. As an Engineering Team Lead you'll be leading an agile team that provides services and tools to our internal engineering teams. You’ll be responsible for helping to identify the problems other teams are facing and how they can be solved, the collaborative technology decisions and output of your team, and the line management of engineers, creating a psychologically safe environment that encourages each engineer to grow, develop and flourish. You'll also be part of several thriving Communities, helping to foster and mentor a progressive engineering culture. You'll be leading on new technologies and approaches, and will play an important role in the technical direction that platform engineering at Confused.com should take.

What you’ll bring to the role:

• Strong Experience mentoring, growing or leading a team that works together to deliver a set of objectives.
• Experience with automating Microsoft Azure deployments using Terraform or ARM/Bicep and designing Cloud systems.
• Experience of using data to drive decision making
• Experience of building and operating consumer-facing services
• Experience using Azure DevOps (or another CICD tool) to automate software releases to customers.
• Knowledge of cloud provider design principles, like Azure and AWS’ Well-Architected frameworks
• Scripting experience in either PowerShell, Python or Bash
• Industry experience in implementing platform engineering approaches, and offering services to internal customers.
• Willingness to learn and passion to keep yourself at the forefront of technology delivery.
• Experience being part of a cross functional agile team, working together to solve problems and deliver outcomes.
