Description:
The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough is seeking a dedicated and motivated Policy Officer to join its Partnerships Team. This is a unique opportunity to make a real difference in crime prevention, community safety, and criminal justice reform, working alongside policing teams, statutory partners, and the voluntary sector.
The role focuses on shaping and delivering policy initiatives to prevent and reduce crime, including business and retail crime, serious and organised crime, fraud, and cybercrime. The successful candidate will also provide wider policy support across community safety, criminal justice, and independent scrutiny, while coordinating the Commissioner’s Countywide High Harms Board.
This dynamic position involves translating new legislation and national guidance into local policies and actionable strategies, supporting the delivery of the Commissioner’s Police and Crime Plan, and fulfilling statutory requirements such as the Serious Violence Duty and the national From Harm to Hope drugs strategy.
On any given day, you may be coordinating local crime prevention activities, ensuring best practices are shared nationally, or researching new legislation to assess its local impact. This variety makes the role ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, policy-driven environment and can bring partners together to turn strategic plans into meaningful action.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the Commissioner in delivering the Police and Crime Plan.
Lead on crime prevention initiatives across fraud, cybercrime, business crime, and serious organised crime.
Coordinate the Countywide High Harms Board.
Provide policy advice on community safety, criminal justice, and scrutiny processes.
Translate national legislation and guidance into local practice.
Engage effectively with multi-agency stakeholders and ensure effective partnership working.
