Description:

HarperCollins Publishers is seeking a Press Officer to join the dynamic publicity team across its HQ, Mills & Boon, and Pavilion imprints. This is a creative and fast-paced opportunity for a self-starter with strong communication skills and a passion for commercial fiction and non-fiction. The successful candidate will spearhead innovative publicity campaigns, plan author tours, and liaise with media, bookshops, and festivals to raise the visibility of a diverse and bestselling author list.

Imprint Overview:

  • HQ publishes bold and inclusive commercial fiction and non-fiction, with bestselling authors like Adele Parks, Sarah Morgan, and Davina McCall.

  • Mills & Boon is the UK’s romance publishing powerhouse, offering titles in contemporary, historical, and suspense romance.

  • Pavilion Books focuses on illustrated lifestyle non-fiction in areas like food, interiors, and crafts with bestselling and award-winning authors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Devise and implement PR campaigns across HQ, Akan Books, Mills & Boon, and Pavilion imprints

  • Coordinate media engagement across print, digital, broadcast, and social platforms

  • Plan and manage author book tours, interviews, events, and media appearances

  • Write trade press releases and promote title acquisitions

  • Liaise with internal teams (Editorial, Marketing, Sales) to amplify campaign efforts

  • Maintain and develop media relationships with journalists, producers, influencers

  • Monitor industry trends to keep publicity strategies market-relevant

Experience Required:

  • Proven ability to execute end-to-end PR campaigns

  • Publishing experience preferred

  • Track record in organizing author events and managing author relationships

  • Strong media network across print, broadcast, and digital

  • Passion for commercial fiction and non-fiction books

Skills Required:

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills

  • Creative thinker with a strong eye for campaign execution

  • Resilient and proactive team player with a “can-do” attitude

  • Ability to multitask and manage workload under pressure

  • Flexibility to work evenings or weekends as needed for events
