Principal Electrical Engineer

Hoare Lea, a human-centric and planet-conscious engineering consultancy, is seeking a Senior or Principal Electrical Engineer to join their Cardiff office. The role involves delivering high-quality electrical design solutions across a range of multi-disciplinary projects while supporting team development and client engagement. Key Responsibilities:

• Manage day-to-day technical delivery of electrical design services across multiple building sectors.

• Develop initial strategic concepts for projects, ensuring compliance with briefs and regulatory standards.

• Engage with internal and external stakeholders, translating project requirements effectively.

• Participate in client meetings, representing the consultancy professionally and ensuring clear communication of design intent.

• Monitor project fees, resources, and work delivered in collaboration with the team leader.

• Mentor and support apprentices, graduates, and other team members to enhance skills and professional growth.

Key Requirements:

• Proven track record delivering complex electrical engineering projects.

• Experience in modern technical delivery processes and relevant software/tools (e.g., BIM, Revit, Electrical OM, Dialux, Relux).

• Strong experience working with clients, contractors, and architects in a consultancy/design role.

• Self-aware, open-minded, and collaborative approach to problem-solving.

• Experience supporting and developing team members’ knowledge and skills.
