Description:

Kent is seeking a Principal Static Equipment Engineer to lead and manage the mechanical engineering activities for major energy sector projects. This role involves overseeing the development of mechanical designs within project budgets, ensuring adherence to timelines, and coordinating inter-discipline engineering activities.

The Principal Static Equipment Engineer will supervise and mentor a team of engineers, ensuring all discipline-specific requirements are met. You will play a critical role in planning, scheduling, and providing technical expertise for the design and execution of static equipment within various project phases, including feasibility, concept, FEED, detailed design, and EPC projects.

You will be responsible for reviewing and checking mechanical activities, managing document preparation, ensuring compliance with international codes and standards, and resolving technical discrepancies. The role requires active participation in factory acceptance tests, vendor issue resolutions, and multi-discipline engineering reviews.

In addition, you will provide guidance on cost-effective improvements, support project progress reporting, and assist in the development of junior engineers. The position requires a proactive approach, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively while meeting schedules and deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise mechanical engineering activities related to static equipment.

  • Ensure design compliance with client specifications and international standards (API/ISO).

  • Plan and schedule project activities and identify manpower requirements.

  • Participate in design reviews, factory acceptance tests, and vendor issue resolutions.

  • Prepare and review man-hour estimates, project execution plans, and mechanical document registers.

  • Identify and resolve design discrepancies and manage changes effectively.

  • Mentor and support discipline engineers, ensuring technical excellence.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree or postgraduate qualification in Mechanical Engineering (Chartered status preferred).

  • Extensive experience in the design of static equipment in the oil and gas industry.

  • Knowledge of international codes and standards for static equipment.

  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work proactively, manage priorities, and meet deadlines.
