Description:

Gowling WLG, a leading international law firm, is seeking a Procurement Specialist (Procurement Manager) to join their procurement team on a 12-month fixed term contract based in Birmingham. This role offers the opportunity to play a pivotal part in delivering strategic procurement solutions and ensuring operational excellence across the firm.

As a Procurement Specialist, you will provide essential operational support to the Strategic Procurement Team, handling all aspects of purchasing goods and services for the firm, while also supplying services to clients. You will be responsible for managing supplier negotiations across multiple categories including software, cloud services, IT consulting, HR, facilities management, and indirect procurement, ensuring procurement aligns with the firm’s business objectives.

This role requires close collaboration with internal stakeholders such as Finance, IT, and Compliance, and a strong grasp of contractual terms and conditions to negotiate favourable outcomes.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide operational procurement support to the Strategic Procurement Team.

  • Manage supplier negotiations across various procurement categories.

  • Ensure alignment of procurement activities with organisational goals.

  • Handle procurement-related contracts, terms, and conditions effectively.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal departments including Finance, IT, and Compliance.

  • Deliver efficient purchasing processes while maintaining high compliance standards.


Qualifications & Skills:

  • Extensive experience in procurement within a service-focused organisation.

  • Strong understanding of the legal industry’s key suppliers and market trends.

  • Expertise in negotiating contracts and commercial terms.

  • Member of CIPS or actively pursuing CIPS qualifications preferred.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • Ability to manage complex procurement categories including IT, HR, and facilities.
