Product Developer

Description:

A globally recognized consumer brand is looking for a Product Developer – Licensing to join their team in Essex. The role is full-time and office-based, offering an exciting opportunity to shape and deliver best-in-class licensed product ranges for markets across the UK, US, Far East, and Europe. The successful candidate will work closely with internal stakeholders, global licensors, and top-tier licensees to support the licensing strategy and develop market-leading collections.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop exciting licensed product ranges aligned with brand strategy, consumer trends, and commercial goals

• Collaborate with internal teams and external licensees to drive end-to-end product development, from concept to shelf

• Champion new licensing opportunities by researching market trends and identifying strategic gaps

• Conduct regular market analysis, including retail and digital audits, to keep the product portfolio competitive

• Negotiate with global suppliers to ensure margin targets, pricing strategies, and product quality standards are met

• Manage the sampling process, including prototypes, approvals, and supplier timelines

• Oversee cost control to keep sampling and development budgets on track

• Liaise with manufacturing teams and overseas factories to ensure seamless product execution

• Support the Design and Product Manager in executing the global licensing strategy

• Travel nationally and internationally to collaborate with global teams and suppliers

Skills & Experience:

• Proven experience in developing licensed products across consumer categories

• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships across functions and cultures

• Excellent negotiation skills to drive value from supplier partnerships

• Creative thinking and a commercial mindset to develop compelling and high-performing product ranges

• Strong analytical skills, able to use market data and sales insights to influence decisions

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and PowerPoint) for reporting and presentations

• Proactive and solution-focused with the ambition to lead projects in a dynamic business environment
