Description:
Climate Group is seeking a Programme Manager to drive accountability and transparency among state and regional governments in climate action. Working with the Under2 Coalition—a network of nearly 200 subnational governments—you will ensure climate commitments are credible, measurable, and impactful. This position involves policy influence, data-led accountability, and high-level international collaboration.
The role sits within the Governments and Policy team, reporting to the Director of Under2 Coalition and Subnational Governments. You will partner with global organisations, policymakers, and funders to strengthen governance frameworks, deliver impactful climate programmes, and shape global climate transparency standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage the delivery and development of the Under2 Coalition’s accountability work, including data systems and analysis.
Produce and communicate climate data insights to influence advocacy, policy, and funding.
Maintain relationships with subnational governments, providing tools and capacity to meet global climate standards.
Coordinate with technical partners (e.g., CDP, WRI) to improve methodologies and reporting.
Collaborate with Communications to create compelling narratives of climate leadership.
Facilitate peer-learning, workshops, and training for stakeholders.
Support donor engagement, including proposals and reporting.
Oversee budgets, timelines, and deliverables.
Represent Climate Group at global climate events (e.g., UNFCCC COPs, summits).
Contribute to cross-organisational collaboration.
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
Strong knowledge of climate policy and governance frameworks.
Proven data analysis and visualisation skills.
Experience working with diverse stakeholders, including governments and funders.
Excellent written and verbal communication.
Strategic, organised, and able to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced settings.
Desirable:
Familiarity with global climate initiatives (e.g., Race to Zero, UNFCCC processes).
Experience with subnational governments on climate action.
Fundraising and grant management knowledge.
Awareness of equity, justice, and inclusion in climate policy.
