Project Commercial Director

 

Description:

Ersg Ltd is recruiting for a Project Commercial Director to lead the financial and commercial strategy for a major offshore wind project currently in the Development Phase, with a target operational date of 2030. The successful candidate will play a key leadership role, directly reporting to the Project Director and becoming an integral part of the Senior Leadership Team.

The role will encompass full ownership of commercial operations (excluding procurement), including developing and optimizing the Project Business Case, steering financial strategy, and ensuring successful engagement with lenders, insurers, shareholders, and external stakeholders.

This is a hybrid role requiring at least two days onsite weekly, with occasional travel and flexibility in work arrangements. It offers a high-impact opportunity to drive strategic decisions in one of the UK’s largest offshore wind developments.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development, optimization, and delivery of the Project Business Case, coordinating with technical and environmental teams

  • Oversee commercial domains such as Contracts for Difference (CfDs), Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), OFTO arrangements, hedging, and insurance

  • Define and implement the Route to Market strategy, ensuring commercial readiness

  • Drive the Project Finance strategy, ensuring project bankability and securing engagement with lenders and investors

  • Supervise the Finance Manager and legal oversight through coordination with Project Counsel

  • Establish and enforce robust cost control, forecasting, and financial reporting systems

  • Manage interactions with shareholder asset managers and JV commercial teams

  • Lead risk management practices and ensure appropriate mitigation of commercial risks

  • Ensure strong governance, internal controls, and high standards of commercial procedure


Minimum Requirements:

  • A degree in Mathematics, Engineering, or other numerate discipline

  • Strong numerical and analytical skills, with deep commercial acumen

  • Demonstrated leadership in offshore wind or renewable energy projects at scale

  • Ability to balance strategic oversight with hands-on execution

  • Skilled in stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and decision-making under pressure

  • Fluent in English, with prior experience working in international and multidisciplinary teams
