Moog Aircraft Group is looking for a Project Engineer who is seeking a challenging and rewarding opportunity. You will be responsible for both New Product Introduction (NPI) and product improvement activities related to Moog’s primary flight control products. In addition to performing the project management function, you will also be responsible for the technical oversight of projects to ensure that the end product meets the customer specification.

The Project Engineer ensures that the scope of projects is understood along with all the deliverables. Projects are costed correctly; the necessary resources identified and produce project plans to ensure that they are executed effectively through the coordination of multidiscipline engineering teams. Additionally, you will have responsibility for the cost and schedule performance of the engineering elements of development programmes.

Responsibilities Include

  • This role a 50/50 split between technical and project management and is key to the success of the development of our new products.
  • Managing the customer relationship.
  • Ensuring that Moog’s Common Development Process is applied for NPI and product improvement projects.
  • Projects are delivered on time and on budget, with regular reporting to management.
  • Responsible for the delivery of all technical documentation to the customer which demonstrates the product meets the specification requirements.
  • Delivery for the technical program.
  • Running more than one project simultaneously.

Key Skills and experience:

  • A degree in a relevant engineering discipline such as Mechanical, Systems or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills as well as Project Management abilities and technical knowledge
  • Excellent negotiation skills along with business awareness are essential.
  • An appreciation of New Product Introduction (NPI) Processes is important, particularly how this applies to an aerospace product life cycle which covers requirements definition through design, analysis, testing, qualification, and entry into service.
  • Experience of working in a product development role within an aerospace company for at least 5 years.
  • Project management experience is highly desirable including planning, resourcing, and monitoring as well as risk management. Familiarity with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) is also desirable.
  • Experience of leading a technical project through a product development process is desirable although awareness from working within specific functions (such as development testing) is also valid experience.
  • An understanding of hydraulic actuation components and systems is desirable.
  • Possesses the ability to work with and lead a multi-disciplined technical project team.
  • Use of MS Project is desirable.
  • Experience of having successfully led projects through all phases of the life cycle process, potentially multiple times.
  • 10 years’ experience of engineering roles within the Aerospace industry.
  • Proficient with using all the tools associated with this role.
  • The ability to train others.
  • Comfortable with running multiple projects in parallel of the order of $10m in value.
