Here at Associated British Ports, we are currently recruiting for a Civil Engineering focused Project Manager preferably near Ipswich. This is an exciting role that will be pivotal in how we define, manage and deliver our projects in the East Anglia region.

Accountabilities

  • Safe and compliant execution of projects to time, quality, cost and risk from concept through to closure.
  • Regular and timely project reporting enabling portfolio visibility, robust cash flow forecasting and risk management.
  • Audit projects for compliance and delivery to the plan.
  • Develop procurement strategies and project execution synergies, hence providing optimum value for money.
  • Hold a full awareness of the 5 year business plan ensuring project sub-teams are adequately resourced to successfully deliver in line with Group policy, process and procedure.
  • Alongside the Asset Management team, take an active role in developing the 5 year asset investment plans related to the creation, refurbishment and/or upgrade of the assets.
  • Ensure alignment with Centre of Excellence and other senior project management colleagues across ABP.

 

Skills, experiences, qualifications and competencies

 

Essential

  • Project management experience in an asset intensive industry.
  • Educated to graduate degree level with relevant professional qualifications/professional body membership.
  • Proven track record of managing the delivery of projects across all aspects of the project lifecycle.
  • Strong commercial acumen and working knowledge of forms of contract.
  • Excellent people skills, able to be a team player, coach and facilitator.
  • Ability to resolve (and assist others to resolve) people issues whenever they arise.
  • Strategic, innovative, highly commercial and analytical.
  • The job holder needs excellent interpersonal, communication and relational abilities. Understands the link between engagement and performance.
  • Strong drive for continuous improvement - never satisfied with the status quo.
  • Strong awareness and exceptionally high standards towards HSE delivery

 

Ideal

  • Knowledge and experience of project management governance systems and continuous improvement in a regulated and/or safety critical industry.
  • Experience of working with project management modules in an Enterprise Resource Planning system, ideally SAP.
  • Use of AutoCAD is an advantage.
