Description:
GSK is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Controls & Automation Project Engineer Manager to join the Q Block Module 2 team at their Barnard Castle facility. This role is part of a state-of-the-art capital projects team, supporting the implementation of an aseptic filling module in a licensed GMP commercial plant. The site is a critical secondary manufacturing hub contributing approximately $2 billion in annual revenue and investing heavily in Industry 4.0 technologies.

Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the Controls & Automation discipline for the Q Block project team.
Oversee specifications, procurement, installation, acceptance testing (FAT/SAT), and qualification of automation systems.
Integrate the new Module 2 facility into the validated Q Block Module 1 Facility, including digital recipes, PCS7, and MES updates.
Ensure compliance with engineering, EHS, and GMP standards.
Engage with external specialist companies providing GMP equipment and services.
Develop and implement new technology strategies to enhance facility design.
Collaborate with site Quality and Validation teams for GMP compliance.
Liaise with central groups on emerging technologies and standards.
Requirements:
Basic Qualifications & Skills:
Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Robotics, Electronics & Communications, or similar.
Automation project engineering experience.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
Experience managing multi-disciplined engineering/technical staff.
Knowledge of Siemens S7, PCS7, WinCC, Keyence, Cognex, SEAVision Vision Systems, ABB and Siemens Drives, and Field Instrumentation.
Experience with digital recipes, MES integration, and data communication protocols (Ethernet I/P, Profibus, Profinet, Historian, SQL databases).
Familiarity with CSV Kneat testing protocols, technical reporting, and documentation.
Understanding of electrical wiring diagrams, P&ID nomenclature, and process/machinery safety standards (UKCA/CE, PUWER, HAZOP, SIL).
Awareness of operational technology cyber security standards and regulatory requirements.
Chartered Engineer status achieved or in progress.
