As a NEC Project Manager, you will join our Local Government Highway’s team, based in Northallerton. You will have the opportunity to work on a range of significant projects and you will be pivotal in driving the quality and timeliness of the service we provide during the construction stage of our projects.

A Typical Week Would Include

You will be required to assist with management of projects and programmes of work during the construction stage. Duties will include:

  • Engaging with our site supervisors and contractors to resolve site issues and manage programme risks through collaborative working.
  • Administration of the contract behalf of the client i.e. preparing project manager instructions, reviewing compensation events, assessment of the programme, responding to technical queries through active engagement with WSP’s designers, tracking project expenditure, progress reporting to the client, attending site-based project review meetings etc.
  • Engaging with a wide range of project stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery during the construction stage.
  • Developing your understanding of the technical/engineering risks and mitigations for your projects through engagement with the design stage Project Manager and/or Design Manager.
  • Developing and supporting early career professionals who wish to progress to site based roles.
  • Complying with ISO standards, client processes and procedures and WSP’s business management system.
  • Maintaining safe working practices and reporting site near misses through WSP’s health and safety reporting system.

We'd Love To Hear From You If You Have

  • A Degree or HNC/ HND (or equivalent) in an Engineering/Technical discipline, or other demonstrable experience.
  • A positive project-oriented attitude with an ability to problem-solve, deliver to timescales and manage multiple projects simultaneously during the construction stage.
  • Experience of managing and reporting project finances using financial systems.
  • NEC: ECC Project Manager accreditation would be desirable.
  • Good communication skills and fluent in spoken and written English are essential, including the ability to write concise reports.
  • IT/computer literate and knowledge and experience of appropriate project management software packages such as Microsoft Project would be desirable.
  • A full valid UK driving licence is required.
