Project Manager

 

Description:

The WMCA has invested in our hard-working Digital and Data (D&D) team to deliver a robust, high-quality customer focused service to our stakeholders. We are now seeking a Project Manager on a 12-month fixed term contract to join the Project Delivery team. Charged with delivering a substantial project portfolio, the position will focus on managing projects that improve D&D service provision and technical architecture.

You’ll play a key role in delivering projects, ensuring that WMCA continually develops and maintains a strong relationship between the Digital and Data team and the wider organisation. You’ll be managing the project lifecycle from kick-off through to close-out, ensuring good project governance; stakeholder engagement; and schedule delivery; whilst also managing project risks and issues in accordance with WMCA project governance

What will you be doing?

· Manage projects through their lifecycle from initial concept and requirements gathering, through solution design and procurement, to implementation.

· Work across the Digital and Data team to ensure schedules of work are optimised and delivered on time, to budget and within quality and scope constraints.

· Manage communications on project-related matters to various stakeholders and at varied levels throughout the organisation.

· Work with stakeholders to develop and agree projects briefs and PIDs, including plan.

· Establish, monitor and manage risks and issues (including escalation) for all project work.

· Provide detailed reports to varying levels of stakeholders regarding project progression - with a focus on time, cost, and quality.

· Maintain knowledge of the latest project management skills, tools, and ways of working

· Identify emerging trends in project management and their opportunities/ risks.

· Work with project stakeholders to investigate and act on feedback relating to identified services, functions or products throughout the project lifecycle.

· Ensure systems are tested and signed off by customers prior to implementation.

· Support Digital & Data’s Senior Programme Manager and other members of the organisation to deliver a customer centric service.

About you

· Educated to A-Level or equivalent.

· Professional project management certification, or significant experience of working at this level with digital projects.

· Experience of working within a team of project managers

· Excellent technical, analytical and project management skills

· Strong communication skills, both written and oral

· Strong management skills of virtual project teams

· Use of project management software to control and monitor projects, and to improve decision-making.

· Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with a range of stakeholders.

· Ability to work within a team or alone on concurrent schedules with tight deadlines.
