Description:

St Mungo’s, a leading UK charity supporting people recovering from homelessness, is currently seeking a Project Manager (Reinvestment and Retrofit Works) to join its forward-thinking Assets team. This is a key opportunity to play a strategic and impactful role by improving the living conditions of some of the most vulnerable populations.

In this role, the Project Manager will:

  • Lead refurbishment and energy efficiency (retrofit) programmes that improve property quality, reduce emissions, and ensure full compliance with safety standards and PAS 2035.

  • Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts, timelines, and schedules for retrofit and reinvestment projects.

  • Oversee design development, procurement processes, contractor coordination, and delivery of multiple simultaneous projects.

  • Build and maintain relationships with government and regulatory bodies such as the GLA, Homes England, and local councils.

  • Manage contracts relating to reinvestment and sustainability, while aligning with broader strategies including Decent Homes Standards, safety, sustainability, and psychologically informed environments (PIE).

  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including Retrofit Coordinators, Assessors, and Designers, to ensure adherence to best practices and compliance protocols.

  • Be physically present in the Tower Hill office at least two days per week, with flexible work options for the remaining days, including home or regional office locations.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Professional qualification in property or construction (RIBA, RICS, CIOB) or equivalent experience.

  • Demonstrated experience managing large-scale reinvestment or retrofit works within housing or public sector environments.

  • Strong financial and risk management capabilities.

  • Familiarity with environmental design standards and sustainability frameworks.

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with a collaborative approach.

  • Project management expertise supported by qualifications such as PRINCE2, APM, or PMP.

  • Passion for supporting socially impactful housing improvements and enhancing living conditions for those experiencing homelessness.
