Project Manager

Description:

This Project Manager role is ideal for someone who enjoys working closely with technical teams and leading projects that combine hardware, firmware and software development. The position is hybrid, but you will need to be in the Southampton office a minimum of three days per week, as the face-to-face collaboration between engineering, programme and product teams is fundamental to successful delivery.

Our client develops advanced IP for high-performance communication systems, working across ASIC, FPGA and embedded environments. They operate in an agile, innovative setting where project managers have genuine ownership, clear visibility, and the opportunity to shape how processes evolve as the business grows.

As the Project Manager, you’ll coordinate cross-functional engineering activity, support internal and customer-facing programmes, and keep delivery aligned to clear requirements, timescales and budgets. It’s a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys structure, communication, and working with specialist technical teams.

Responsibilities Include

  • Planning, monitoring and coordinating multi-disciplinary projects across hardware, firmware and software development
  • Defining project requirements, deliverables and success criteria with engineering and programme leadership
  • Building detailed schedules, identifying dependencies, managing risks and tracking progress
  • Supporting customer communication, providing status updates and managing expectations
  • Contributing to process development, change control and continuous improvement of project management practices
  • Supporting estimation, resource planning and financial tracking
  • Maintaining RAID logs, reporting on risk budgets and driving timely resolution of issues

Experience

  • Strong project management experience within hardware, firmware, or technology-led environments
  • Understanding of ASIC and/or FPGA development, embedded workflows or semiconductor IP development (not expert level, but able to follow technical discussions)
  • Experience coordinating cross-functional engineering teams
  • Comfortable working with Agile and Waterfall approaches, and tools such as MS Project or Jira
  • Clear communicator with the confidence to challenge, clarify and facilitate good technical dialogue
  • Organised, detail-focused and proactive, with strong ownership and follow-through
