Project Manager (it)

 

Description:

The ideal candidate will have experience of managing technical and IT projects, ideally with some formal Project Management training and accreditation. In this role you will be expected to manage a single large project or multiple smaller projects.

 

 

This role reports into a Senior Project Manager and will work alongside a team of 6 Project Managers.

The job holder will be responsible for the following primary aspects:

    • Leading the estimating and planning process for projects approved to proceed to this stage by the Change Group. Identifying all stakeholders and leading and facilitating the production of all relevant project management documentation.
    • Mobilising project resources, managing the delivery phase, working with workstream partners, including Product Owners, taking early action to address risks and issues and ultimately ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget and meet the user requirements.
    • Ensuring that projects are transitioned into support with full documentation, handover, and hyper-care arrangements in-line with the agreed Service Transition Standards.
    • Issuing regular progress updates, ensuring all stakeholders are kept fully involved and up-to-date, and ensuring Technology and Corporate Portfolio Management function information and reporting needs are met
    • Managing the agreed project budget, including head count and external cost.

The job holder will be involved in:

  • Working with Procurement and the IT Procurement Specialists to ensure that the overall procurement process runs quickly and effectively, and the chosen partner/supplier is onboarded.
  • Building close relationships with Business Stakeholders and Sponsors.
  • Working with corporate functions including Corporate PMO, Business/Corporate Project and Programme Managers, Procurement, HR, Finance etc….

 

Skills and Experience:

  • Track record of managing technical and IT projects, ideally with some formal Project Management training and accreditation.
  • Ability to comprehend technical subjects, including software development and systems architecture, as well as document/translate the basic meaning behind these subjects.
  • Familiarity with both Agile and Waterfall methodologies. Able and willing to switch between them. Experience using DevOps, Jira, or a similar tool to manage projects throughout the SDLC process is advantageous.
  • Experience working in a similar size project delivery team. Good working knowledge and experience of project and programme governance and reporting
  • Experience of producing software tenders and evaluating supplier bid responses and in particular direct involvement in OJEU tendering will be advantageous
  • Strong influencing, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills. Experience of working with and influencing senior stakeholders
  • Self-starting. Able to operate on own initiative with minimal supervision. Outcome and result focused.
