Description:
Laing O’Rourke is inviting experienced Project Quality Managers (PQMs) to join its Talent Community for upcoming opportunities in 2025. This role is a critical leadership position aimed at ensuring operational excellence, compliance, and customer satisfaction across some of the UK’s largest and most prestigious building and infrastructure projects.
The PQM will be responsible for leading quality management, embedding a culture of continuous improvement, and ensuring project delivery meets the highest standards. This includes managing compliance, addressing risks, ensuring accurate documentation, and enabling teams to consistently “get it right the first time.”
Key Responsibilities:
Implement and manage the Quality Management System in alignment with the Quality Policy.
Act as the main Quality contact for stakeholders, clients, and certification assessors.
Promote a strong quality culture, escalating issues and halting work where integrity is at risk.
Deliver quality training, inductions, and toolbox talks to enhance workforce competence.
Review and approve project execution deliverables such as Quality Plans, Method Statements, ITPs, Work Procedures, and Material Approval Forms.
Monitor non-conformance issues, identify trends, and implement corrective actions.
Lead or support investigations into significant non-conformance incidents through the Quality Incident Event Process (QIEP).
Oversee development and management of Lifetime Quality Record (LTQR) handover documents, ensuring progressive assurance and compliance.
Represent Quality in stakeholder meetings, reporting performance through KPIs.
Conduct and support internal audits to maintain ISO 9001 and BS 99001 certifications.
Contribute to strategic quality initiatives across the Europe Hub, including lessons learned, market trends, and improvement programs.
Skills & Experience Required:
Extensive knowledge and application of quality assurance and governance in large-scale projects.
Strong technical expertise in regulated industries such as nuclear, rail, power transmission, healthcare, or defence.
Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to drive continuous improvement and risk mitigation in complex project environments.
Strong IT and data interpretation skills, with experience using project systems like Fieldview, Asite, or Trimble.
Qualifications (Desirable):
ISO 9001:2015 Internal or Lead Auditor certification (or working towards).
Chartered Member of CQI (Chartered Quality Institute) or equivalent quality/engineering body.
