Are you an experienced public sector commissioner looking to make a real impact in crime prevention and victim support services? The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) of Cambridgeshire Constabulary is seeking a dynamic Director of Commissioning to oversee a £6.5 million commissioning budget dedicated to reducing crime and providing trauma-informed support for victims and witnesses.

This is a challenging yet rewarding role that involves significant partnership collaboration, governance oversight, and policy development—particularly in the Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) Prevention approach.


Key Responsibilities:

📌 Commissioning & Governance:
✔️ Oversee and manage the £6.5m commissioning budget to deliver effective crime prevention and victim support services.
✔️ Ensure governance frameworks are in place for service implementation.
✔️ Develop strategic policies and frameworks aligned with public safety objectives.

📌 Victim & Witness Support Services:
✔️ Lead the largest support service portfolio within the OPCC.
✔️ Ensure the provision of trauma-informed victim and witness support services.
✔️ Contribute to the Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) Prevention approach.

📌 Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting:
✔️ Work closely with local, regional, and national partners.
✔️ Draft and present reports in key meetings and monitoring sessions.
✔️ Conduct site visits to ensure service effectiveness.

📌 Leadership & Team Management:
✔️ Lead a team of commissioning professionals.
✔️ Drive collaborative initiatives with government agencies, law enforcement, and non-profits.


What We’re Looking For:

Minimum 3 years’ experience in public sector commissioning with direct leadership responsibility.
Strong knowledge of VAWG services, either from a commissioning, service delivery, or partnership perspective.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, including drafting reports and presentations.
✅ Experience in governance frameworks and outcome measurement for funded programs.
✅ Ability to work strategically and operationally within a complex public sector environment.
