Description:

Wiley, a global leader in research and learning with over 200 years of publishing excellence, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Publisher to manage and grow a prestigious portfolio of health science journals. This position will primarily focus on high-profile nursing and related field journals, working with diverse business models and ownership types.

The Publisher will be responsible for driving journal performance through strategic planning, industry insight, and proactive content growth initiatives. This includes increasing submissions, acceptances, and published articles, as well as building strong relationships with editors, societies, and publishing partners. The role demands a high level of organization, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage complex relationships with multiple stakeholders, including societies and editorial boards.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Content Growth: Developing and implementing strategies to exceed targets for submissions and publications, presenting development plans to editors and society partners to foster the right growth behaviors.

  • Industry Insight: Staying ahead of publishing trends, analyzing their impact on Wiley’s portfolio, and creating compelling business cases for new publishing initiatives.

  • Editor & Partner Management: Maintaining strong relationships with editors-in-chief, editorial boards, and partner societies to ensure alignment with Wiley’s strategic priorities and open access initiatives.

  • Reporting & Strategic Planning: Regularly reviewing and reporting portfolio performance to senior leadership and partners.

  • Collaboration: Working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless end-to-end publishing services, from submission to publication, while identifying opportunities for portfolio growth.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience.

  • Proven track record in publishing, particularly in journal development and stakeholder engagement.

  • Strong awareness of industry trends and their strategic implications.

  • Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and negotiation skills.

  • Ability to work independently, manage complex relationships, and mentor colleagues.

  • Willingness to travel as required.
