Quality Assurance Engineer

We are seeking a proven Quality Assurance Engineer to focus on visual inspection of parts for a major Armoured Vehicle Programme, being built and delivered in Merthyr Tydfil.

 

What will I be doing?

 

You will be dealing with quality defects on the shop floor products.

 

This will include liaising with the Operations, Engineering and Manufacturing teams to understand the issue and help to resolve it by:

 

  • Containing the problem to stop it getting any worse.
  • Quarantining the defective part such that it can't be used.
  • Resolving the issue with the defective part to either rework it or replace it.
  • Liaising with the wider team to ensure effective communication.
  • The role will also include undertaken visual Inspection activities on the product.

What skills will I need?

 

  • Dealing confidently with people from a range of backgrounds and technical ability in a high pressure environment.
  • Effective decision making and taking responsibility to see the issue through to resolution.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High level of IT skills with standard MS Office packages.
  • SAP Quality module experience desirable but not essential.
  • Experience of root cause and corrective action investigations, as a desirable.

 

Points to be aware of:

 

  • There will be a training programme you will need to complete, for roughly a month, prior to joining our manufacturing teams in Wales.
  • You will need to be able to support staying away at our main headquarters in Ampthill, Bedfordshire, at your cost, prior to commencing work on this programme down in Merthyr Tydfil.
  • We will pay the standard rate to you though, in this training period, you must cover your own expenses.
  • You will need to achieve full UK SC level security clearance prior to joining.
  • You do not need a specific background in defence, or armoured fighting vehicle design and build.
  • This role is 100% on site with no remote, hybrid or home working.
  • We can consider Quality Assurance Engineers from most mechanical engineering biased domains.
