Description:
IC Resources, in partnership with a leading defence technology company, is seeking a highly skilled RF Engineer to join their expanding team in Stevenage. This hybrid position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the research, design, and validation of advanced radio-frequency systems integrated into sophisticated electronic and weapon platforms. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hands-on RF circuit design and testing, coupled with a passion for solving complex engineering challenges in a high-performance environment.
As an RF Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and validating RF circuits and subsystems operating across frequencies from 30 MHz to 30 GHz. You will work on components including low-noise amplifiers (LNAs), high-power amplifiers (HPAs), filters, local oscillators, and modulators. The role requires practical problem-solving, prototype modification, and validation through the use of VNAs, spectrum analyzers, and power meters. You will also ensure compliance with stringent EMC, vibration, and thermal standards, while collaborating closely with cross-disciplinary teams to produce reliable, manufacturable designs.
In addition to technical design work, the position offers opportunities to contribute to process improvement, innovation, and continuous enhancement of RF design methodologies. Applicants must hold British citizenship or dual UK nationality due to security clearance requirements associated with defence-related projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Research, design, and validate RF circuits and subsystems across 30 MHz – 30 GHz.
Develop RF components such as LNAs, HPAs, filters, oscillators, and modulators.
Conduct testing, troubleshooting, and prototype modification using lab equipment.
Utilize VNAs, spectrum analyzers, and power meters for detailed performance analysis.
Ensure compliance with EMC, vibration, and environmental standards.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to achieve robust, scalable designs.
Contribute to innovation and process improvement in RF design.
Required Skills & Experience:
Strong practical experience in RF circuit design and testing.
Solid understanding of analogue, digital, and power supply design principles.
Proficiency with RF test and measurement equipment.
Confident soldering and fault-finding skills with rapid prototyping ability.
Experience using RF design software such as Microwave Office or equivalent tools.
Knowledge of design for manufacture (DFM) and design for test (DFT) practices.
Excellent communication and reporting capabilities.
Benefits:
Annual company bonus (up to £2,500 based on performance).
Generous pension contributions up to 14% (combined employer and employee).
Overtime and flexible leave options (up to 15 additional days).
Enhanced parental leave benefits.
Flexible working arrangements for work-life balance.
Excellent on-site facilities including subsidised meals and free parking.
Relocation support may be available for qualified candidates.
