Reactive Lead

Description:

Severn Trent, a leading UK water and wastewater company, is seeking a Reactive Lead based in Derby. This role is responsible for ensuring the effective operation of the sewerage network within a defined area while delivering full compliance with customer, regulatory, and company standards. The Reactive Lead will focus on right-first-time solutions, improving network serviceability, and resolving operational issues efficiently and safely.

The role requires ownership of customer service issues and collaboration with stakeholders, including the Environment Agency, Local Councils, Highway Authorities, and contract partners. The position includes participation in a regional 24/7 standby rota and may involve work across different regions when required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and promote a safe working environment to achieve Goal Zero

• Review, approve, and coordinate follow-on work with contract partners

• Manage incidents such as sewer collapses or burst rising mains

• Handle customer complaints, escalations, and insurance claims

• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth operations

• Ensure compliance with operational, safety, and budgetary standards

• Collaborate with Civils Planning and Scheduling teams

Candidate Qualities:

• Customer-centric with strong people skills

• Ability to work under pressure with high workloads

• Skilled at problem-solving and delivering right-first-time solutions

• Able to interpret technical specifications and communicate effectively

• Knowledge of sewerage law and maintenance of gravity sewerage systems is desirable

• Budget awareness and ability to work within constraints is desirable

• Positive, proactive, and caring attitude
