Description:

The RSPCA is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Rehoming Coordinator to join its friendly team at Pets at Home Friern Barnet. This is a full-time, on-site role where you will be at the heart of the organization’s efforts to provide a safe, nurturing, and rehabilitative environment for cats that have experienced cruelty and neglect.

The Adoption Centre plays a crucial role in supporting RSPCA's inspectorate by caring for, rehabilitating, and rehoming over a hundred cats annually. These cats come through a network of hospitals and local animal centres, and some are placed in foster care to provide individualized attention and support during recovery.

This role is highly varied and involves a mix of animal care, public engagement, administrative tasks, and coordination with fosterers and veterinary services. The coordinator will be responsible for ensuring each animal receives the best welfare possible and is matched with the most suitable adopter based on specific needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily care and enrichment to cats housed in the rehoming unit

  • Conduct home visits and adoption checks to ensure suitability

  • Manage and support the fostering network, coordinating placements and providing ongoing support

  • Promote adoptable animals in-store and via social media

  • Engage with the public, answering inquiries both in person and via telephone

  • Facilitate veterinary visits, including transportation of animals

  • Handle administrative tasks to ensure effective record-keeping and coordination

Requirements:

  • A full, valid UK manual driving licence with proven experience (use of manual vehicles is essential)

  • Willingness to work weekends and bank holidays on a rotating schedule

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to manage lone working situations

  • Compassionate nature with a can-do attitude and professional communication skills

  • Experience with domestic animals (volunteering, work, or study)

  • Comfortable conducting home visits and engaging with members of the public in various environments

  • Adept at managing sensitive conversations with empathy

  • Basic computer literacy and admin skills
