Description:

The Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment at LSE is seeking a Research Assistant to support the Transition Pathway Initiative (TPI) Centre, a global initiative that empowers investors with data and research to evaluate corporate progress toward a low-carbon economy.

The selected candidate will join either the Carbon Performance or Climate Action 100+ (CA100+) team. Both focus on analyzing company emissions and climate strategies to inform investment decisions and promote climate-conscious corporate behavior.

The Carbon Performance team benchmarks emissions pathways for high-emitting sectors using the latest climate models, while the CA100+ team delivers insights on corporate action aligned with the Paris Agreement goals. The TPI Centre is a key data provider for the CA100+ Net Zero Company Benchmark.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions data and assess company progress against low-carbon scenarios.

  • Evaluate alignment with international climate goals and national pledges.

  • Collect, process, and quality-check complex data sets.

  • Contribute to methodological development and publication of reports.

  • Communicate findings and collaborate with external stakeholders.

Candidate Requirements:

  • A completed undergraduate degree in environmental economics, energy policy, sustainability, finance, management, or a related discipline.

  • Strong research and analytical skills, capable of interpreting and producing detailed quantitative and qualitative assessments.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and data management tools.

  • Demonstrated ability to work within deadlines and contribute to team outputs.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Contract Details:

  • Full-time, fixed-term until 31 May 2026.

  • Potential for contract extension subject to further funding.
